Minimum recommended PC Specification for Internet use:

  • A Pentium processor or equivalent
  • 32Mb of RAM (64Mb recommended)
  • Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Linux, or OS2 Operating System
  • A SVGA monitor
  • A web browser
  • An internal or external modem (Broadband companies usually supply this.)
  • A telephone line
The Processor

If you bought a new PC in the last six years it will have an Intel Pentiums or other manufacturer's equivalents and today you can't buy anything new that would be unsuitable.

Random Access Memory (RAM)

This is a case of the more the merrier. No matter what you are doing on a PC the more RAM you've got the better. These days most new PCs ship with at least 128Mb of RAM. Additional RAM can usually be added to an older machine.
