It is
important to plan your website from a clear understanding of what you want it to achieve.
One area where this can become cloudy is defining who the site is aimed at. Many
businesses produce consumer goods or services that are sold by third parties. Where
agents, wholesalers, distributors and retailers are involved you will be aiming some of
your marketing activities these elements of your sales strategy. On the other hand you
cannot ignore the end user. So in designing a website you must decide who you are
targeting. It may not be appropriate to make information available to the general public
that details your business relationships. There are a number of ways of tackling this
problem. The site can be designed primarily for the consumer while at the same time
providing sections of the site that can only be accessed by your trade partners by
inputting a password. Alternatively you could have two separate sites.
If you trade at an
international level you may want to include text for your site in several languages. This
can be accomplished by introducing a choice of language versions on the home page. |
