Choosing a style for the Web Site

It is always a good idea to maintain a corporate or house style throughout your marketing and advertising mix. This should also be applied to your website if possible. The company logo, the company colours and elements of graphic design that distinguish you from others can usually be incorporated into a web design.

If you choose us to design your web pages we will spend time preparing designs and layouts for you before the style of your site is finalised.

Limitations

There is one, quite serious, limitation to the design of web pages and that is the availability of type faces used in body text. A web browser is limited to using the typefaces from fonts that are available on the visitors computer. So if the type style you usually use in your literature doesn't happen to be installed on the visitors computer then it will not appear on his or her screen. Fortunately there is a default font to fall back on so the screen will not be blank. While it is possible to get round this limitation by to some extent by including graphics that use specific typefaces for headings and special elements is is impracticable to use graphics for large blocks of text. There is a range of more common fonts that are likely to be found on most modern computers so a website can be designed to use a range of possible fonts, listed in order of priority.
